Armen Asryan will talk about the Geospatial Crowdsourcing for Environmental and DRR sectors from a practitioner’s perspective touching upon several key issues including the key concepts and frameworks behind the topic, review of practical implementations in Armenia, lessons learned and the challenges that affected the crowdsourcing project design and management.

Armen is the co-founder and director of Armenia based Aires Development Foundation, which is a start-up hub for aerospace, education, renewable energy and environmental conservation enthusiasts. He holds an MSc degree in Applied GIS from Kingston University (UK). Armen is specialising in GIS, EO, ICT4D for international technical assistance with more than 15 years of consulting, coaching and teaching experience gained with the WB, UN, USAID, CIDA, ADB, SDC, OSCE as well as academic & research institutions, NGOs, public/private sectors. His worked in 10 countries, from Canada and US to Central Asian republics and Afghanistan covering multiple sectors, such as land administration, disaster risk reduction, environmental conservation, natural resources management, public Infrastructure/water/irrigation; public health, education and tourism development.
