CEU-wide workshop on OpenStreetMap data analysis

On March 11th, Systems Lab conducted an open CEU-wide workshop on geospatial data retreival from open sources and its analysis using ArcGIS Network Analyst. Led by Lab's teaching assistant and PhD student Pavel Kiparisov, students explored OpenStreetMap service, obtained geospatial data for the capital city of Mongolia and conducted the best bus route selection for tourist sightseeing. 

OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a collaborative project to create a free editable map of the world. The data from OSM can be used in various ways including production of paper maps and electronic maps, geocoding of address and place names, and route planning.
