Google Earth Pro for Beginners

October 21, 2022
San Lazzaro degli Armeni

OSUN's GeoHub is organizing a mapping workshop for absolute beginners and those interested to learn more about various GIS features of Google Earth Pro.

At times, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) might seem unapproachable and "scary", but there is a wide variety of tools out there that can make the scary quickly become familiar.

Google Earth Pro is one of these tools. It provides some beginner-level GIS techniques through a medium that most of us have seen or used before in a different context. In this workshop, you'll be introduced to Google Earth Pro, free desktop software that has advanced GIS and mapping features, allowing users to create maps, import and export GIS data, and access historical images. You will be shown some simple ways for data analysis, and most importantly, how to export your data for easy presentation.

The GeoHub workshop does not require any mapping experience and is open to students and staff across OSUN member institutions.

So, book your calendar for 28 October (13:30-15:10 CEST), and indicate your interest to participate through the registration form. Details on how to join the event will be shared with registered participants separately.

We look forward to having you join us and beginning your GIS journey!
