Syslab at International Disaster and Risk Conference in Davos

Research carried out at Syslab was represented at the International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC) Davos 2016: Integrative Risk Management – towards resilient cities, held in Davos, Switzerland, on 28 August – 01 September. Anastasia Kvasha has reported her project on Assessment of Flood Risk for Urban Areas in the Lower Don River. The research carried out under supervision of Professor Viktor Lagutov, Head of the CEU Systems Laboratory demonstrates applicaiton of Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing for Disaster Risk Reduction.

July 4, 2016 marked the beginning of the "Geospatial technologies and remote sensing for monitoring SDGs" summer workshop. Organized by Syslab in cooperation with CEU SUN, UNOOSA, DG Joint Research Centre and ESRI, the workshop aims to provide in-service education and professional training for environmental decision-makers and practitioners, who are in a position to greatly benefit from this data revolution to better shape management strategies and to make more informed, data-driven decisions.
