JRC and CEU Initiate Scientific Cooperation

Followed by the signing of MoU, Environmental Systems Laboratory in cooperation with JRC is organizing summer workshops run through the ISEPEI project. JRC experts will contribute to “Geospatial Technologies and Remote Sensing for Monitoring SDGs” and “Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction” workshops, by presenting latest programs’ impact on monitoring of multilateral environmental agreements, Global Human Settlement Layers, as well as innovative and concrete tools for implementing Sendai Indicators.

CEU’s new Digital Humanities Initiative (DHI) held its kick-off event on May 19. Subtitled Digital Cooperations and Community, this initiative is an 18-month preparatory project funded by the Humanities Initiative at CEU for mapping, taking inventory, and exploring existing Digital Humanities projects within CEU, and for thinking through ways of strengthening such capacities in the future.

Expert Meeting on Space-based Applications for Humanitarian Affairs

Viktor Lagutov contributed to the Expert Meeting on the Benefits of Space-based Applications for Environmental Monitoring and Humanitarian Affairs for Geneva-based UN and other International Organizations Co-hosted by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO). The meeting was held at the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Headquarters in Geneva on 11-13 May, 2016.
