The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is an intergovernmental partnership working to improve the availability, access and use of open Earth observations to impact policy and decision making. GEO unites 105 member countries and 115 participating organizations.
On February 28th, Douglas Cripe, a senior expert of the GEO Secretariat, gave a talk on GEO activities on disaster resilience as a part of the Syslab's open lecture series on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)..The range of GEO DRR activities includes improvement of disasters forecasting methods, preparation, mitigation, management and recovery measures. Douglas has also explained the GEO role in the Sendai Framework and presented exisitng work programs.
