The ISEPEI Project held a workshop through the CEU Summer University entitled "Bridging ICTs and the Environment: Making Information Talk and Technologies Work for Water Security" from July 7-10, 2014. The aim of the workshop was to explore how information and communication technologies (ICTs) can be used in water management and water security applications and to show that these technologies are relevant, accessible, and easy to use for decision-making purposes, despite the traditional prejudices and fears among practitioners. The workshop featured a number of notable faculty, including representatives from UNECE, UNEP, UNOOSA, Esri, Google, and the Black Sea Commission, among others. Both Esri and Google gave day-long hands-on workshops to the workshop participants. Attendees consisted of a wide variety of local, national, and international environmental and policymaking organizations.

The workshop was run by the ISEPEI Project, a joint project of UNEP's Global Universities Partnership on Environment and Sustainability and CEU, part of the Eye on Earth Summit, taking place in Abu Dhabi in October 2015.
